South Eastern Hotel Speed Shear 2026
South Eastern Hotel
Ever seen sheep being shorn in the middle of a packed Front Bar?
On Saturday 21 November 2026, the South Eastern Hotel in Mount Gambier will transform its Front Bar into a shearing shed, complete with flying fleece, roaring crowds and some of the fastest hands in the industry!
Now in its fourth year, the South Eastern Speed Shear Competition has become a spectacular local event, attracting shearers from across Australia and New Zealand to battle it out in a race against the clock.
With more than 50 shearers expected across Open, Seniors and Intermediate divisions, and a whopping $20,000 prize pool, the stakes are high and the competition is fierce!
Last year's Open Final nearly lifted the roof off, with Jimmy Samuels taking out first place in just 17 seconds, narrowly beating his closest rivals by fractions of a second.
And new for 2026 is the Regional Speed Shear Tri-Series, connecting competitions in Millicent, Casterton and Mount Gambier, with an additional $3,000 in prize money for eligible competitors.
Whether you're visiting the Limestone Coast, connected to the shearing industry or simply fancy something out of the ordinary, this is country entertainment at its best.
