Weight of War Run Cronulla
Cronulla RSL
Cronulla RSL is proud to host the Weight of War Run bringing the community together to raise awareness and support for the mental health and wellbeing of Australian veterans.
This unique event challenges participants to complete 21 kilometre, 10 kilometre, 5 kilometre or a 1 kilometre walk. The signature challenge involves wearing a 10 kilogram weighted vest and budgy smugglers. The weight represents the invisible load many veterans carry, while the budgy smugglers symbolise the courage it can take to ask for help.
Open to everyone, the event is about mateship, connection and reminding veterans they do not have to carry the weight alone. Funds raised will support veteran mental health initiatives through Weight of War's partners, Survive To Thrive Nation and Zero79 Foundation, which supports current and former members of Australia's Special Operations 2nd Commando Regiment community and their families.
The event starts and finishes at Cronulla RSL, with a welcoming community atmosphere featuring live entertainment, a BBQ, bar facilities and kids' activities. Whether participating in the challenge, cheering on friends and family or enjoying the festivities, everyone is welcome.
