Twenty-one years ago, Longrain opened on Little Bourke St with a fresh take on Asian dining for Melbourne: bold Thai-inspired flavours, communal tables and DJs playing late into the night. The room was packed, the line spilled out the door, and bookings weren't a thing. Since then, there have been more first dates, long lunches, late nights and last drinks than they could count, and the spirit has stayed the same: big flavours, generous plates and a table full of stories.
At this event, they are marking it twice, a 21st birthday party and a $21 menu.
