The Confident Home Cook

The Confident Home Cook at Otao Kitchen in Abbotsford is a series of six hands-on, full-day workshops for home cooks who want to cook with real confidence. Led by expert chefs, each workshop is built around a show-stopping hero dish for a dinner party, alongside practical dishes to cook again on weeknights. Guests can book a single workshop or work through all six. Pork and Poultry features a pancetta-wrapped chicken roulade. Beef and Lamb covers Beef Wellington and a herb-crusted lamb rack. Fish and Seafood moves from choosing and filleting fish to a whole baked fish. Pasta, Noodle and Dumpling teaches fresh pasta, hand-pulled noodles and folded dumplings from scratch. Bread and Baking builds a collection of breads and baked goods, and Pastry and Dessert finishes with a pastry display and plated dessert. Each workshop runs for a full day in a small group, with all ingredients and equipment provided. Guests learn the techniques behind every dish, sit down to enjoy what they have cooked, and take the recipes home to repeat. The program suits keen home cooks, couples and food lovers, and an all-six gift voucher makes it a memorable present.
