Camerata Antipodes: A Christmas Gift - Vivaldi, Handel, Holst
St Alban's Anglican Church Hall
From Vivaldi's Double Violin Concerto to Holst's sublime carol "In the Bleak Midwinter", vocal and instrumental music from Renaissance, Baroque and Modern masters await in a concert for all ages by the "musically combustible" (Criticks UK) Camerata Academica of the Antipodes chamber orchestra and vocal ensemble.
Vivaldi's virtuosic Double Violin Concerto L'Estro Armonico Op3/11 features alongside songs, carols and dance music from Renaissance to Modern masters including Ravenscroft, Ford, Holborne and Praetorius, music for piano by Australian composer Leon Coward known for his 'Chopin-esque' style (Criticks UK), and selections from Handel's ever-popular Water Music Suite 3. A captivating blend of musical energy, evocative lighting and a lively acoustic come together in this final programme of 2026 directed by musicologist-performer Imogen Coward and featuring soloists Christopher Porteous, Taliesin Coward, Justin Shenouda, Joanna Lun and Leon Coward, the Camerata ensemble, vocalists, and members of the young artist mentoring programme.
Reflecting the Camerata's ethos of supporting music making for youth in Australia, profits from this concert will support the work of the Australian Children's Music Foundation.
