Hempress Sativa - WOMADelaide
Botanic Park / Tainmuntilla
Lyrical machine, her Highness the Hempress Sativa, channels the spirits of the griots as a cultural guardian and oral storyteller. Influenced by roots reggae, dub, and the rhythms of the Nyabinghi drumming she grew up with, Hempress Sativas is a revolutionary force. In 2026, she released Woman, a powerful album weaving quietly captivating spoken-word with more traditional reggae and dub sounds. Produced by Paolo Baldini DubFiles, she described it as "a challenge to the narrative and … an offering to women all over the globe". Backed by the mighty Unconquerebels band, she was a standout at the 2026 editions of WOMAD in the UK and Festival Boreal in Spain, with her vocal mastery, commanding energy.
