Cool climate. Serious Cabernet. Wine Yarra Valley closes its Cabernet and Friends celebration with an evening of wine, fire and cabaret at Oakridge Estate in Coldstream.
The afternoon opens with Cabernet in Conversation, a guided masterclass with seven of the Yarra Valley's leading winemakers including Sarah Crowe (Yarra Yering), Sandra de Pury (Yeringberg), Rohan Smith (Medhurst), Peter Shone (Levantine Hill), Tim Dexter (Oakridge), Ben Portet (Dominique Portet) and Bruce Lang (Finestra). Hosted by wine educator and former journalist Ed Merrison, it's a rare chance to taste a Cabernet from each winemaker and hear how the valley's cool climate shapes this elegant variety.
Then stay on for the Cool Cabernet Cabaret dinner. Settle in at a candlelit long table for shared dishes cooked over open fire, matched with Cabernet from across the region, while Extraordinary Acts bring live cabaret to the room.
