Macbeth Under the Stars

Southern Cross Lawn, The Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne

The Macbeths are back with their unparalleled thirst for the ultimate power of the throne. A stunning mix of mind games and manipulation, sparked by the prophecies of three witches that Macbeth encounters on the heath as he returns from war, triggers his burning ambition which in turn ignites an inferno in his wife, inspiring him to kill for the crown. Invading armies, blood, dark magic, sabotage, power and storms. Take all the spirits of those who have strived for power and relentlessly fought for control. This is the story of Macbeth. Now, this internationally acclaimed production returns to Melbourne following its triumphant season at London's Kew Gardens bringing Glenn Elston's visceral staging of Shakespeare's darkest tragedy back under the stars to The Royal Botanic Gardens. A gripping tale of ambition, obsession and betrayal, Macbeth is Shakespeare at his most brutal, thrilling and unforgettable.
