Bales on the Trail

Various Farms in the Upper Murray, Mitta Valley and Lake Hume regions

Bales on the Trail invites visitors to explore The Undiscovered region this November through a unique self-guided journey of creative hay bale sculptures. Set against the stunning farming landscapes of the Upper Murray, Mitta Valley and Lake Hume regions, this inaugural event transforms ordinary hay bales into imaginative works of art inspired by the theme The Magic Between the Pages. Follow the trail at your own pace as you travel through picturesque countryside, visit regional towns and uncover surprising displays around every corner. Perfect for families, book lovers, road trippers and day visitors, Bales on the Trail offers a fun and memorable way to experience the region while supporting local communities and businesses. Visitors can also vote for their favourite sculpture in the People's Choice Awards, with participating farmers competing for a range of prizes. Whether you are planning a day trip or a weekend escape, Bales on the Trail is a unique opportunity to discover the character, creativity, and country hospitality of The Undiscovered. Visit the website from 1 November 2026 for a full list of sculptures and a map of their location.
