Talking Architecture: Drawing the line
State Library of NSW
Architecture may be the most public of all the arts yet is the least publicly discussed. Talking Architecture is a series of public conversations about some of architecture's key questions: Is beauty necessary? What is architecture for? Involving architects, artists, clients and lovers of architecture, Talking Architecture will open a public dialogue about how we can and should shape our shared built world.
One of the architect's defining skills has always been the ability to communicate three-dimensional ideas through drawing. This connection between hand, eye and mind was always thought to be critical to the creative process and to communication, yet drawing is no longer a required talent — and AI is likely to intensify that loss. Will this change how we design our houses, streets and cities? Does an end to freehand drawing impoverish our shared spatial world?
Moderated by Elizabeth Farrelly, the Talking Architecture series has been curated by Sonia Blasco Lázaro and Ed Lippmann, with the support of Porcelanosa and Vitrocsa.
