Sunshine Coast Hinterland Writers Festival
Maleny Showgrounds
The Sunshine Coast Hinterland Writers Festival is a vibrant literary and cultural festival celebrating writing, reading, storytelling and creativity while showcasing the beauty of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Held annually in Maleny and surrounding hinterland locations, the festival brings together readers, writers, artists and the wider community for a diverse program of conversations, workshops, performances, exhibitions and interactive experiences.
The festival, themed "A Harvest of Stories: Where ideas take root and stories bloom" will feature authors and practitioners and is expected to attract a strong turnout. The program will extend beyond traditional writers' festival formats through free community activities, storytelling installations, author events, creative workshops and opportunities for people to share their own stories, themed around growth in all its various forms.
The Festival is designed to make literature accessible, inclusive and relevant to people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience. Alongside established and emerging authors, the festival celebrates local voices, First Nations stories, regional creativity, food, farming, gardening, nature and the unique character of the Hinterland.
At its heart, the Festival is about connection: connecting readers with writers, people with place, generations with each other, and communities through the power of stories. By providing opportunities to participate, learn, create and connect, the festival contributes to the Sunshine Coast's cultural life and attracts visitors to the region.
