Netsuke Carving Workshop

Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades

Learn the ancient art of netsuke wood carving with master wood carver Hape Kiddle. In this three-day workshop, you will learn to shape and carve your own netsuke fish or toadstool using traditional wood carving hand tools and Japanese carving techniques such as himotoshi (carving passages in the netsuke for the cord) and ukibori (relief carving). At the end of the workshop, you will take home your very own netsuke fish or toadstool.
