A Lifetime in Lines: Art and Architecture — Trevor Gibson

The Queanbeyan Hive Gallery

Discover more than seven decades of creativity in A Lifetime in Lines: Art and Architecture, the first exhibition by Queanbeyan artist and architect Trevor Gibson, presented in celebration of his 85th year. Drawn from an extraordinary personal archive, the exhibition brings together paintings, watercolours, life drawings and sketches created throughout Trevor's life. Art has been a constant thread alongside family, work and a long career in architecture. Trevor attended art classes from a young age and continued drawing and painting while studying architecture at the University of Sydney, where he was taught by renowned Australian artist Lloyd Rees. Over subsequent decades, Trevor continued to paint and draw through Canberra art groups, the Artists Society of Canberra and, more recently, the Queanbeyan Art Society. The exhibition offers a rare glimpse into this largely unseen body of work, from landscapes and watercolours to observational sketches and striking figure drawings. A small selection of architectural material adds another layer to the story of a lifetime spent observing, drawing, designing and making. Presented throughout the character-filled rooms of The Queanbeyan Hive, the exhibition coincides with the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Arts Trail. Entry is free.
