PAUSE Exhibition - Nick Hannaford
Mezzanine 55
MEMORY - LIGHT - WEATHER - FIRE - SILENCE - PLACE - RECOGNITION
PAUSE grew from a decision to question the familiar habits I had developed over a lifetime of painting and explore what might happen if I looked again.
The works move between subjects, scales and approaches, reflecting a period of exploration. What connects them is an interest in familiar landscapes, people and traces of how we live, and the moments when light, weather or memory shift our experience of something known.
PAUSE is less about slowing down than stopping long enough to question what we think we know, see things differently and perhaps discover an unexpected direction.
Nick Hannaford is a finalist in the 2026 Heysen Prize for Landscape, with the winner yet to be announced.
