Introduction to Comedy Burlesque - Blue Mountains Comedy Festival
Moonflower Movement Studios
Join them for a beginner friendly introduction to comedy burlesque. In this workshop you will have a play with the basics of making people laugh while taking your clothes off! (Clothes will stay on in our workshop though!)
You'll try out creating a character, physical comedy, facial expressions, timing, musicality and audience interaction through fun exercises and games. This workshop is about getting out of your head, being willing to look a little silly and finding the funny in your own performance style. Learn about the comedic roots of the neo burlesque revival and a little of the history of this tongue in cheek empowering art form!
You don't need to be funny already, and you definitely don't need any burlesque or dance experience. Come have a play, try something new and discover your silly side! Run by Porcelain Doll local weird and wonderful burlesque artist and producer of Burlesk of the Bizarre.
(Performance credits include Australian Burlesque Festival, Perth International Burlesque Festival, World Burlesque Games Finalist, Berlin Burlesque Festival "Odd Night" and more.)
