Monet to Matisse Friday Nights: Ella Ion

Art Gallery of South Australia

Every Friday, Monet to Matisse stays open late for an after‑hours experience with art, beats and bubbles. Kick back with live music, Taittinger champagne and French-inspired bar snacks (available to purchase), plus unlimited access to more than 100 works spanning a century of modern art – from Monet and Cézanne, to Matisse and Mondrian. This Friday hear from fragmented-folk musician Ella Ion. Emerging from Kaurna Land/Adelaide, Ion crafts music that cuts deep to the core. Drawing on influences of indie-rock, folk and country, her eloquent lyricism and masterful musical control delivers a cacophony of raw emotion, anchored by grit and heart. Like her songwriting, Ion's live performances demonstrate the musician's masterful range. From intimate encounters of tender folk to electrifying post-rock arrangements, Ion flaunts her ability to transform a room of anyone and everyone into a fan with her magnetic stage presence, considered songwriting and angelic vocal range. Ella Ion is holding nothing back as she barrels forward in a direction of raw sonic and personal exploration. Ion has supported Suki Waterhouse, Folk Bitch Trio, Jake Bugg, and Greg Mendez at shows across Australia, UK and Europe, as well as taking to the stage at The Great Escape Festival and Green Man Festival in the UK. Tickets for this event are available online only, please book in advance. Last entry is at 8pm.
