Weaving with First Nations Artist Tahnae Davidson Bartley

Fleurieu Arthouse

In this engaging class, you will learn the art of weaving and create a beautiful mat or basket to take home or gift to a loved one. Don't worry if you're new to weaving, this session is beginner-friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive. You'll be provided with a weaving starter kit and all the materials necessary to craft your own masterpiece. So, come as you are, and feel free to embrace this opportunity to unwind and get creative. What you'll get: A starter piece to build on and a completed raffia basket or mat to take home. My name is Tahnae Davidson-Bartley, I'm a Kullilli Wiradjuri woman who has lived in Kaurna Country for nearly 30 years. I learned how to weave from Yolngu Elders as a child in a setting where everyone came together as family and community. My sessions are about honouring those experiences by bringing people together to still the mind, connect with one another and relax through the rhythmic and meditative process of weaving. If you want to book for a private class or hold a workshop in your venue please email or call the mobile number above. Separate weaving sessions for children 16 years and under are available on request.
