The Barunga Festival

Barunga Community

The Barunga Festival provides an authentic encounter with Aboriginal culture in the Northern Territory. This iconic event celebrates Indigenous music, culture, and sport through a long and proud tradition. It showcases art from across the Northern Territory while supporting remote communities. Visitors engage directly with community life through a diverse program of activities. Traditional dance performances and music fill the air. Art exhibitions and workshops offer hands-on learning opportunities. Sports competitions draw crowds to watch both traditional and modern games. The cultural program includes storytelling and bush medicine workshops. These sessions allow for deep connection and learning from local knowledge holders.
