Bondi Aboriginal Experiences

Bondi Pavilion

Walangari Karntawarra and Diramu Aboriginal Dance and Didgeridoo entertain, engage and inform during this interactive Aboriginal cultural experience. During the one-hour workshop, guests experience a dynamic presentation of Aboriginal dance, music and cultural knowledge. Learn dances, songs and words in Aboriginal language while gaining a deeper understanding of the world's oldest continuing living culture. Guests have the opportunity to see and handle cultural artefacts, learn about their traditional uses, and discover bush foods and medicines that continue to grow locally. Join a yarning circle, test your knowledge with a cultural quiz, and take part in interactive activities including traditional sand painting. Their experiences are designed to have a light physical footprint. Cultural knowledge, storytelling, dance and music form the heart of the experience, requiring minimal equipment and resources. Sand painting activities use non-toxic materials, and materials and equipment are reused wherever practical to help minimise waste. Through sharing knowledge of Country, local plants, bush foods and traditional practices, the experience also encourages a greater understanding of the longstanding relationship between Aboriginal culture and caring for Country.
