Strand Ephemera
The Strand
Strand Ephemera 2027 returns from 24 July to 8 August, transforming Townsville's iconic coastline into a spectacular outdoor gallery for 16 days of art, culture and community.
Recognised nationally as one of Australia's leading public art events, Strand Ephemera showcases an inspiring collection of temporary artworks by local, national and internationally acclaimed artists, set against the unique backdrop of North Queensland's tropical waterfront.
As an ephemeral exhibition, the artworks are on display for a limited time only, creating a rare and ever-changing experience that invites visitors to explore, connect and engage with contemporary ideas in shared public spaces. The exhibition expands the possibilities of public art, encouraging community participation and conversation while supporting meaningful career development opportunities for artists, particularly those working in regional areas.
Alongside the exhibition, visitors can enjoy a vibrant program of events, workshops and artist talks that celebrate creativity, place and community.
