Boorowa Irish Woolfest
Boorowa Irish Woolfest
Experience the magic of the Boorowa Irish Woolfest, a unique celebration of Merino wool and Irish heritage in the heart of the stunning Hilltops Region. Just a 90-minute drive from Canberra and a relaxed 4 hours from Sydney, this is a fantastic October long weekend getaway.
Leading up to the event enjoy fabulous fringe events filled with Irish spirit and fun in the local pubs.
On the main day, Sunday, the town transforms into a vibrant hub of festivities, with live music, family fun, market stalls, and local arts and crafts. Immerse yourself in wool displays, shearing demonstrations, and the iconic 'Running of the Sheep', where farmers and sheepdogs guide the woolly parade down the main street.
Look out for cheeky leprechauns roaming the streets and join the Guinness Pie-Eating competition or the Irish accent competition to show off your Irish flair!
Boorowa's Irish roots shine through the festival, with connections dating back to the 1820s, and the town is twinned with Clonoulty in Tipperary, Ireland.
Surrounded by lush green fields and vibrant canola, Boorowa in spring is a sight to behold. Whether you're here to cheer on the sheep, enjoy the music, or share a pint of Guinness, you'll feel right at home in Boorowa's welcoming community.
Grab your mates, put on your green, and make memories that will last a lifetime. Sláinte!
