Kingfisher Bay Passenger Ferry Service

As the primary passenger ferry service to K'gari, they operate multiple, reliable daily services between River Heads and Kingfisher Bay Resort, making it easy to plan your island escape. In just 50 relaxing minutes, you'll cruise across the stunning Great Sandy Strait with K'gari in view, surrounded by pristine waterways and abundant marine life. Dolphins, turtles, schools of fish and even whales during winter are often spotted along the way. The modern vessels carry up to 220 passengers across two spacious decks, offering comfortable seating, outdoor viewing areas and a welcoming onboard atmosphere. Sit back, enjoy quality time, or treat yourself to something from our fully licensed bar and onboard galley, serving snacks, espresso coffee and cold drinks. Your experience is designed to be seamless from start to finish. Guests simply book online and choose their ferry crossing time, before checking in at the River Heads Mainland Reception 40 minutes prior to departure. If they are not bringing their vehicle to the island, guests can hop aboard the courtesy shuttle, which transfers you to the ferry 10 minutes before sailing. Arriving at Kingfisher Bay Resort means stepping onto bitumen roads, ensuring a smooth, safe landing — no soft sand, no bogging, and no stress. You can relax, let your tyres down at the resort vehicle area, and ease straight into holiday mode.
