Established in 1922, it has been a cornerstone of the local community ever since. Visitors can immerse themselves in the history of the cemetery, by participating in self-guided tours. Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium have developed self-guided tours to provide a unique perspective on this historic site, the design of the grounds and insights into the stories behind the notable figures buried here. Among the most notable are Sir Robert John Kerr (Governor General), William Morris ‘Billy’ Hughes and Bob Hawke (Prime Ministers), and celebrated entertainers Lottie Lyell and Johnny O’Keefe.
