Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area camping

Inskip Peninsula is a narrow, sandy finger of land built up by wind and waves. It forms a natural breakwater at the entrance to Tin Can Inlet and Great Sandy Strait. Beach she oaks, cypress pine and other coastal trees and shrubs shade Inskip's five trendy camping areas that are ringed by open ocean beaches and sheltered estuary shores. All are within 15 minutes drive of Rainbow Beach. You can camp with your dog at Inskip, as long as it is on a leash and under control at all times. Camping areas at Inskip are popular all year but are often full at peak periods—school holidays, long weekends, Christmas, New Year and Easter. Remember, only campers with pre-purchased camping permits are allowed to set up camp. Camping permits are required, and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Book your campsite and purchase your camping permit in advance. Bookings can be made on-line, over the counter or by phone. Please note that portable toilets are mandatory at Dorrigo South and Pelican Bay camping areas. Even if you are only staying for one night you must bring a portable toilet.
