Just 100 metres downstream from the Heritage Falls is Leeaberra Falls, its smaller but no less pretty twin. Leeaberra Falls tumbles about 8 metres down an unusual twisting drop, into a deep green pool. The easiest way to see the falls is by hiking downstream from the base of Heritage Falls (see that page for information on the hike to that point) where from a little outcrop it is possible to get a decent side-on view of Leeaberra Falls from the top. If you are very keen though, it is possible, albeit difficult to get to the base of the falls. Scrub bash up a ridge on the right bank of the Douglas River, heading over the top descending steeply on the other side. Similar to the descent to Heritage Falls, the rocky slopes are extremely unstable, however, the difference here is that there is no track, meaning overgrowth also obscures the route down. Having said that, the descent doesn't last too long before dropping you out at the river just downstream of the falls. It is possible to visit Heritage and Leeaberra Falls in a day provided you have a 4WD capable of taking you to the start of the track, however it is recommended to do the hike as an overnighter, or by continuing on the rest of the 3 day Leeaberra Track....
