Megalong Valley, New South Wales
The Megalong Valley is a picturesque valley surrounded by towering escarpments in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. The Aboriginal meaning of Megalong is 'Valley under the Rock'. This area is popular for horse riding and there is a diverse range of trails through scenic bushland. The three-day Six Foot Track bushwalk from Katoomba to the Jenolan Caves passes through the Megalong Valley and sections of it can be done as day walks. Free bush camping is available at Old Ford Reserve and Blackheath Glen Reserve which have minimal facilities but do have basic toilets.
