How to Access the ATDW
The Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) is the national platform for digital tourism

distributors. Distributor fees are based on commercial and not-for-profit business models.

Step 3: ATDW reviews
Access Request Form
ATDW will review the Access Request Form and will notify you
via email if you have or have not been accepted as an ATDW distributor.
Step 4: ATDW issues you with a Distributor Key
Once the Distributor Agreement has been signed and returned to ATDW,
you will be emailed a Distributor Key and a Distributor Kit. A Distributor Key uniquely
identifies your organisation and allows you to access all of the secured ATDW content.
The Distributor Key is required for all calls to the Australian Tourism Web Service.
We are able to provide you with free initial advice prior
to implementing the ATDW content on your website. If you require additional service,
we can offer you our technical expertise at competitive market rates.
Step 5: Install the SOAP Tool kit
ATDW content is distributed to external parties via the
Australian Tourism Web Service (ATWS) by a real time interface. This allows you to
get the most up to date content at anytime. The protocol used to distribute this
information is the Simple Object Application Protocol (SOAP). Requests for information
are passed over HTTP and the results are passed back in XML.
To use the ATWS you need to build a client application that can
communicate with the ATWS using SOAP or HTTP GET/POST protocols. The Distributor Kit contains
all the information you need to build applications that will interact with the ATWS and the
types of calls you can carry out using the ATWS. You may also wish to use the sample code
provided with the Distributor Kit which will give you a great start.
Step 6: Test
The ATDW provides a number of web applications for you to try out ATWS queries, that will help you to understand how the ATWS works and the kinds of queries you might want to include in your application.
A working version of the sample code provided in the Distributor Kit is available on the Distributor Document Intranet which demonstrates a fully working product search application. A testing harness for the Australian Tourism Web Service
is also available for you to try out any of the queries you might want to implement in your client application.
